I have some more images from within the cave inside the Earth Gallery.
As mentioned yesterday, the booklet includes information on cave features.
One last look inside the Gallery.
Coming out into the Lantern area on this level, there are a number of historical panels to be found about the building.
Early on in its life, the Museum housed Parliament for several years when Centre Block was destroyed in the 1916 fire.
Vaults!🌺
ReplyDeleteEarth, the artist. Plus brave explorers.
ReplyDeleteI find caves fascinating though I'm not so keen on squeezing through narrow spaces any more - the Earth Gallery seems ideal to me.
ReplyDeleteI agree with John about squeezing through tight spaces.
ReplyDeleteInteresting and informing.
ReplyDelete...caves are amazing creations of nature, but I'd prefer to be above ground.
ReplyDeleteHello, hubby and I have visited many caves. Great exhibit and post. Happy Thursday, enjoy your day! Have a great weekend ahead!
ReplyDeleteI am scared for that guy in the photo all squeezed up in the cave.... :-/
ReplyDeleteThe cave part is neat. We went to the Bonnechere Caves last summer. Glad I went.
ReplyDeleteInteresting caves.
ReplyDelete@Cloudia: indeed!
ReplyDelete@Iris: a good way to put it.
@John: lots of people have issues with tight places.
@Janey: a common concern.
@Italiafinlandia: that it is.
@Tom: I haven't been in many caves, but I find them fascinating.
@Eileen: thank you.
@Sandi: a tight squeeze.
@Anvilcloud: I haven't been there.
@DJan: I think so.
I think that is the only way I would do any caving! ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhen I spent a night with the boyscouts in a cave in Tennessee, I found the extent of my claustrophobia...I was pretty miserable, though I tried to sleep in my sleeping bag. Now I smile when someone wants to do a cave trip...no more for this lady!
ReplyDeleteTunnels and caves give me the creeps. I'm claustrophobic.
ReplyDeleteCaves are very interesting, I have visited some of them in Belgium and France.
ReplyDeleteI bet kids love climbing around in the cave.
ReplyDelete@RedPat: it's probably well suited for someone who might be claustrophobic.
ReplyDelete@Barbara: I spent time as a child inside a Tennessee cave.
@Red: I'm not.
@Jan: I'd like to see more of them.
@Sharon: kids would respond well to the cave.
Interesting William but caves and moi do not mix well together, the picture of the man climbing out the small cave entrance sent my claustrophobia into overdrive 😱
ReplyDeleteAwesome and intriguing ~
ReplyDeleteHappy Day to you,
A ShutterBug Explores,
aka (A Creative Harbor)
A wonderful exhibit. I don't think I would like to go in caves, I don't even like elevators. :)
ReplyDeletecaves are such fun, i've explored them since a young kid. so cool. they are plenty around here. guess it is just the kind of ground or life/nature we have. ( :
ReplyDeleteFascinating post! I remember going into the Luray Caverns (not that far away from here) years ago. I always remember how cool it was down there, and the sights were extremely interesting.
ReplyDelete@Grace: it's been a long while since I've been in a real cave. This one has enough space and is shallow enough in terms of distance from the entrance that you'd be okay.
ReplyDelete@Carol: thank you!
@Bill: I had a look- Ireland and Northern Ireland have their share of caves.
@Beth: there's a lot of them in that part of the continent.
@Denise: caves do have that sort of effect to me too.
I think the cave area looks fascinating, something a little different to see.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
It's a good addition.
DeleteIntriguing about the cave. I'm not sure it would be my thing too -- at least not a small one!
ReplyDeleteI don't have a problem with confined spaces.
DeleteWhat a great way to see a cave.
ReplyDeleteIt is. A wheelchair can go right in.
DeleteNot a fan of entering caves or the underground..I can do it but not happily.
ReplyDeleteThis one wouldn't trouble you.
DeleteI think this is enough of a cave to satisfy my curiosity. I know they can be beautiful but they're not terribly appealing to me.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see some of the big ones.
DeleteIt is beautiful inside a cave, the stalagmite and stalactite are so special!
ReplyDeleteI think so too.
DeleteMuito interessante.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e bom fim-de-semana.

Thank you.
DeleteThe cave within the museum gallery is amazing:)
ReplyDeleteI think so too.
DeleteEntering caves is rather disturbing for me.
ReplyDeleteNot for me.
