At the top of the stairs and between both wings of the Museum of History is this wonderful flowerbed filled with tulips and one of the best backdrops of the National Capital Region.
I love the curves of this museum, which is the masterpiece of the First Nations architect Douglas Cardinal, who lives in the Ottawa area. He has buildings in other parts of Canada, as well as some in the United States, including the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington.
Around the east side of the curatorial wing, there are thick bushes, some of which feature tulips to be found. Perhaps the work of squirrel gardeners, transplanting from the nearby formal beds?
And here are the formal beds, a river of tulip colours.
A charming area.
