Fading Away From Peak Bloom
After the lilacs and cherry trees of spring have bloomed, summer brings these blossoms on trees, for a brief time. I shot these in Centretown; some of the blossoms were already fading from white into tan. I have no idea what the trees are.
There are three trees I've seen with white blossoms, but two of them are not what your picture shows. They are beautiful. If those aren't large trees, it isn't the other tree I've seen either. Oh, the trees were magnolias, dog wood, and catalpa (sic).
The blossoms look like a native we have here, but the leaves aren't right. If it's a privet it's a very healthy and happy one. I feel like sneezing just looking at the photos.
Beautiful!

ReplyDeleteIt looks like a wax-leaf privet. I'm not positive, it just looks like one I've seen and photographed before.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty blossoms. Not sure what they are.
ReplyDeleteNice flowers! They look like trees instead of bushes, but it's hard to tell from close-up pix!
ReplyDeleteI like flowering trees in cities. Of course they can make a mess but we excuse that because they are pretty and we enjoy them. MB
ReplyDelete@Karl: I liked them too. I'm glad I took shots of the blossoms this year.
ReplyDelete@Tanya: I thought so.
@Krisztina: thank you.
@Tex: thanks!
@Sharon: I had a look at that tree, and it might well be. In which case, a lot of people planted that type.
@EG: they're quite lovely.
@Cheryl: they are trees.
@MB: the prettiness outweighs the messiness.
What a joy to see!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous tree! No idea what it is though.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful whatever they are!

ReplyDeleteI don't know either, but I must say they look fabulous!
ReplyDeletePrivet maybe? (Much hated by allergy sufferers.)

ReplyDelete@Jose: Sharon's suggestion might be the right one.
@RedPat: they certainly caught my eye.
@Marleen: thanks!
@Lauren: I agree.
@Paul: That's what Sharon thought.

ReplyDeleteWhen I think of the Privet, I always think of Harry Potter. The Dursley's lived on Privet Drive. Thanks for the memory, William!
ReplyDeleteThere are so many to ID! Then I forget year-to-year!
ReplyDeletePretty! I've never seen a privet that big though.
