Red, Yellow, White, And Orange

And some pink, as well. Beds of tulips can be found on the Old Ottawa South side of the Rideau Canal, a short walk from my house. In this first shot, a dog is walking his humans (as opposed to the reverse) in the background, crossing Colonel By Drive over to the bike path that overlooks the Canal, behind where I was standing.

I liked the contrast in homes in the background of this shot.

Tomorrow I'll show you a tulip bed over on the Glebe side of the Canal.

  6. I've never even heard of so many tulips in one place. The word, "bucolic," came to mind when I first saw that first shot! Terrific photography, William!

  11. These are much larger tulip beds than I thought they would be. I didn't realize it was that many.

  14. @Whisk: I thought so too.

    @Linda: thank you!

    @Orvokki: they're my favourite flowers.

    @Tamera: that would be ideal.

    @Marianne: we get an enormous amount in every year.

    @Karl: thank you!

    @VP: and more to come.

    @Jan: a place I would love to see someday. There are also places around British Columbia, Washington, and Oregon that have big fields.

    @Lowell: there really is no shortage of them here.

  15. @Birdman: this year I didn't happen to see any artists, though I'm sure it was just a matter of timing. They would have been around at some point in the parks painting new canvasses. A couple of artists I know of definitely sell tulip related canvasses at art shows later in the year.

    @Jane and Chris: they certainly do.

    @Tex: so do I.

    @Luis: thanks!

    @Grace: right now would be a good time to do so in your part of the world.

    @Kate: thank you!

    @Red: there are so many, and in so many places. I did miss one area I wanted to see- I was in the area, but completely forgot about it until I was long away from it.

    @MB: it's a tremendous amount of work.

    @Kay: they certainly are.

  19. It would be great to live in one of those places I see across the street. I could look out the window at a sea of flowers and I wouldn't have to do the gardening.

  20. They're so beautiful! There are tulips planted on the grounds here every year--the owner is Dutch--but the kids always end up ruining them.

  21. @Linda: I'll be posting tulip shots well into June, it looks like!

    @Cheryl: thanks!

    @Sharon: it's a pleasure to live so close to them.

    @Linda: indeed!

    @Judy: I'd be hopeless gardening, so seeing them here is nice.

    @Norma: those kids are a nuisance.

  30. @Janey: it was chance that your blog crossed my path- I saw a comment in a blog I follow, so I decided to look your page up.

    @Carolann: it's a pleasure to show them.

    @RedPat: there are so many of them to see. I know I didn't see all the beds this year.

    @Ciel: we'll have to wait for next year, but I've still got quite a few days left of tulip photos.

    @Gemma: so did I.

    @Jennifer: I wouldn't be capable of designing a flower bed!

    @Gill: it's a pretty area to live in. I like it here.

    @Denise: they certainly are.

  34. Stunning captures William and I'd have to say the orange and creamy-white bed is my favourite. Unfortunately no tulips in my corner of the world so I'm loving seeing your pics.
    Happy snapping and enjoy your week.
