Viva Pancho Libre

Buskerfest, as it's called, marked its 25th year here in Ottawa on the Civic Holiday weekend. It takes place each year along the Sparks Street pedestrian mall, with some spots giving one views of Parliament Hill a block north. I photographed a lot of the acts over these days, and it was a blast. I'm starting off with a Mexican entertainer who goes by the name Pancho Libre. I caught this acrobat on a couple of occasions at this location over the five days of the festival. In the first case, he was getting things set up and warming up his audience.

On the second occasion, he was perched high on a pole over the street, and shirtless, getting towards the end of his act. It turns out that he won the peoples choice award for this year's Buskerfest.

  21. Wow. These buskers certainly draw quite a crowd. Looks like the street is blocked for these performers. That guy on the pole is incredible.

    @Stefan: it really is.

    @Gemma: yes, they do draw crowds, the bigger as the act goes along. And the streets are blocked to the south and the north, but traffic manages quite well.
