On a day in the first half of October, I took a walk to the New Edinburgh area for more fall colours. And so for the next few days we'll see that walk, from that day about a month ago today. I begin with this view from the terrace below the Chateau Laurier, with the Rideau Canal locks beneath Parliament Hill, where the Canal meets the Ottawa River.
Major's Hill Park is close by, and this large wooden work of art is there: Twist 1.5. Fall colours were showing off behind it.
Turning around gives us this view, with the Chateau glimpsed beyond.
I took this looking across the park towards the National Gallery of Canada.
When I showed you this view last, there were less fall colours, and the summer plantings in the flowerbeds were still there. On this day, there was more fall colour, and the tulip bulbs had been planted. Colonel By seemed to approve.
I kept walking.
This overlook of the river from the park takes in the Museum of History on the Gatineau shoreline. In the far distance is the rise of the Gatineau Hills.
I decided to try zooming in on the Hills. They were a sea of red. This would have been about a week after my visit into Gatineau Park.
I finished with a panoramic shot from this location before continuing on my way.
I like the wooden work. And all the colors. Interesting architecture, too.
