A reminder to members of City Daily Photo: the theme for December 1st is Luxury.
Continuing on where I left off yesterday, the rose garden at Rideau Hall is a place of peace.
The path led me on.
The Hall itself is here, a grand residence open for guided visits- reserving ahead over the course of the winter- in English and French.
At present the fountain out front is fenced off, with presumably some work to be done on it. The flag up on top of the building is the Governor-General's official colours, and with it out, it means that she's present on site.
The building is a wonder, having had entirely enveloped the original building that was home to the McKay family back in the day.
In autumn this place reveals all its splendour...
ReplyDeleteThat hall is fantastic looking. The park is huge.
ReplyDeleteThe hall looks impressive and the park beautiful !
ReplyDeletePeaceful gardens. The hall is very elegant.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful captures of the fall colors, the impressive hall and park. Take care, enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteImpressive building in that wonderful garden.
ReplyDelete...I love seeing the blue skies, something that has been missing here this week.
ReplyDeleteI have visited Rideau Hall twice, once during the tenure of Ed Schreyer and secondly when the bland David Johnstone occupied the post.
ReplyDeleteAs a unilingual Anglo, I once opted to take the garden tour en francais while the others took the interior tour. I think there wasn’t enough room for me. Anyway, there were only two of us, so the guide did translate for me.
ReplyDeleteDrone photos of these colours would look amazing.
ReplyDeleteThe grounds are well worth a visit by the look of them!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful garden. Impressive building.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteThe trees are so beautiful.

@Jan: I like visiting here.
ReplyDelete@Tom: much the same here.
@David: I've visited the grounds more often than done a tour, but next time I should go inside.
@anvilcloud: that would be different.
@magiceye: I doubt the Mounties would go for that!
@Marie: they are.
ReplyDelete@Nancy: definitely.
@Sandi: thank you.
@sharon: they are.
@RedPat: I agree.
I really like the shadows in these photos.
ReplyDeleteMe too.
DeleteAll the trees look incredible decked in colour.
ReplyDeleteThey were.
DeleteImagining a building like that being a family home boggles the mind.
ReplyDeleteThomas McKay would not recognize his former home!
DeleteIt's too bad we don't fill in pediments like the one shown with art. It really does help give character to a building.
ReplyDeleteIt does.
DeleteThe Hall is a wonderful place ~ stunning archways and photos ~
ReplyDeleteWishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

DeleteThat IS an impressive building. I love the portico (I think that what that is) on the front of the building. It's so elegant.
ReplyDeleteVery much so.
DeleteLovely photos, and thanks for reminding me of the theme, Luxury I'm going to try and make it on time!
ReplyDeleteI'm featuring a couple of hotels here.
