A reminder to members of City Daily Photo: the theme for May 1st is Museum.
This large gallery space includes a number of paintings collected together on a red wall. We start with Miss Audrey Buller, done around 1922-23 by Randolph Newton.
This is Jean Biggar, an 1890 portrait by George A. Reid.
Helen McNicoll painted Stubble Fields in 1912.
La Caterina is a portrait by James Kerr-Lawson, circa 1887-89.
George A. Reid painted Mortgaging The Homestead in 1890.
The canoe at the heart of this room is by an Algonquin artist, dating to the early 20th century.
And now to the Group of Seven. Lawren Harris painted Afternoon Sun, North Shore, Lake Superior in 1924.
For today I finish with another member of the Group: A.Y. Jackson painted March Storm, Georgian Bay in 1920.
I like them all, but for some reason I am particularly drawn to Mortgaging the Homestead.
