There are more sculptures overlooking the reflecting pool in the National Gallery. We start today with The Whittler Or Budding Sculptor, by Louis-Philippe Hebert, done around 1900.
Alfred Laliberte created The Self-Made Man in 1926.
Inspiration is a 1904 work by Hebert.
Back to paintings. Here we have Behind Bonsecours Market, Montreal, an 1866 oil painting by William Raphael.
Another work by Raphael: Bonsecours Market, Montreal, from 1880.
William Brymner painted A Wreath Of Flowers in 1884.
I expanded the three paintings and saw unknown (to me) but really handsome art works. Did Impressionism have any impact on Canadian artists of the 1880s?

DeleteThe sculptures and paintings are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYes, they are.
DeleteSo beautiful... I like sculptures... but
ReplyDeletewhat inspires me the most today is the image of the girls on the hillside with the wildflowers and bushes, the narrow path and the stones... the children are weaving a wreath of flowers and the girl on the right in the pink cap is knitting a ribbon of yarn...
that's what we did when we were children - weaved wreaths of flowers and later with our own children and later with the grandchildren... no wonder this picture by William Brymner inspires me today... Idyll in a beautiful landscape.
Thank you and many greetings to you.
That one is idyllic.
