The Striking Work Of Canadian Women In Art

 Continuing where I left off, this is another work by Prudence Heward. The Bather is a 1930 painting.


Girl Under A Tree is another work by Heward, from 1931.


Portrait Of A Seated Young Lady is another Heward painting, dating sometime between 1929-41.


Here we have A Pierrette, by Regina Seiden Goldberg, from 1925.


An Immigrant is the title of this 1921 painting by Goldberg.


Lilias Torrance Newton painted Elise Kingman in 1930.


Another work by Newton: Anna is from around 1923.


And I finish today with Arctic Cameo, a 1937 painting by Winifred Petchy Marsh, depicting a mother and child of the Inuit.

    It makes you wonder how much the art world would have benefitted from talented women artists whose work was suppressed when women were little more than chattels of men.
