Artistic Treasures Within The Gallery

More from the Rideau Chapel- entirely appropriate for Easter Sunday.

Back out into the main corridors of the Gallery. This altarpiece is The Baptism Of Christ, circa 1832-37, by Francois Fournier.

Across from it is a different work of art, across from the altarpiece. This coat is by an artist of the Mississauga people, dating around 1844.

These are by Francois Baillairge, originally from a church in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli. The Virgin and Saint John date back to 1797.

Two portraits to close out the day. Francois Beaucort painted Eustache-Ignace Trottier called Desrivieres Beaubien in 1792.

And this is Father Charles Chinquy, an 1841 portrait by Antoine Plamondon.

  10. I like the wood carvings. I remember the first time I saw some at an exhibition if religious art and how dried out and cracked the wood had become.
