We start today with this portrait which always catches my eye. Henriette Massue Le Moine is an 1854 portrait by Theophile Hamel.
Another work by Hamel: Jean-Louis Beaudry dates round 1855.
A landscape painting that always draws the attention of my readers. White Horse Inn By Moonlight is an 1851 painting by Cornelius Krieghoff.
Antoine Plamondon painted Abbe David-Henri Tetu in 1836.
A wider view of this area.
This is Josephte Ourne, painted circa 1840 by Joseph Legare, depicting an indigenous chief's daughter.
And for today, I finish with another portrait. Johanna Robinson Hazen is an 1852 oil painting by Albert Gallatin Hoit, an American who spent some time in Canada.
I am sure that the 1851 landscape painting by Cornelius Krieghoff really IS popular with your readers in snowy countries. Another favourite Krieghoff painting in a Canadian gallery is Winter Landscape, Laval (1862) which I actually preferred. I am assuming the more architecture Krieghoff put in each painting, and the fewer the large shadows, the more interesting his work was.
