Carrying on where I left off yesterday, I came into the next space, with a large installation in the middle of the room. But first to set the stage, this is titled The Practice Of Home- Blueprint, by Kelly Rendek.
Here's a detail- looking very much like architectural plans, but not like the usual as you might expect.
And here it is in a spiral- rather like the finished design, which is behind me.
This is a physical model of the work.
And the artist's statement is here.
The final work- a spiraling work you can walk into, The Practice Of Home, where Rendek uses aluminum tubes and canvases that have been painted as part of her materials. It spirals into the centre, rather like a nautilus shell. I found the concept very creative.
These are the carrying cases for the finished product, hung close by.
A bit different.
ReplyDeleteQuite so.
DeleteWe used to use something like this as a windbreak when we went to the beach for a day.
ReplyDeleteNot a surprise.
DeleteThere is much to see in this world!

DeleteI for one am glad that she used metal tubes rather than PVC. Nice design.
