Afscheid To The Tulips

It seems appropriate to use that Dutch word today; afscheid means goodbye. All good things must come to an end, and so we come to the last of our tulip shots for the year. A count of the posts brings me up to nearly three weeks worth of these posts. The tulip beds on Parliament Hill were beautiful this year. I paid visits on more than one occasion.

We have ourselves another stray yellow hiding out on the lam among other tulips.

Beyond the main tulip beds, on either side of the base of the Peace Tower are two smaller tulip beds. This is the east one.

And this is the west side, offering a view of the side arch looking into the main entrance.

I leave off with a final shot of tulips and the Peace Tower. It requires getting really low down to the ground to  get this shot in. I hope you've enjoyed this tour of the tulips here, and I look forward to next year, when they'll be back once again to enchant us.

  4. Wonderful shots, William. That's certainly a huge number of tulips. I'll have a few showing from a visit to Dunham Massey on A Bit About Britain soon - but nothing like the number you've pictured. Was the yellow one meant to be there, I wonder - or a nice subversive little rogue?

  11. Thanks for sharing, William. I had no idea and I wouldn't have imagined that any city would have so many tulips. And I love the stone structures that are graced with such beauty. In that 4th shot, it looks like you've captured some sort of graduating class. :)

@Lowell: as I recall, it was a visiting class of students. I think one of the local schools has a uniform policy.

@VP: thank you! I decided I had to finish with that one.

@MB: somehow those rogue tulips seem to catch people's attention!
