Twilight

The good kind of twilight. Not the kind that involves sparkly vampires, sullen idiots, and flea bitten dog boys that scowl at everyone.

These shots were taken over many weeks, from the third floor of the library at Carleton. Even with the reflection of lights in the window, the colours of dusk are pleasant to look at. This first one was in early March, hence the lovely snow and ice everywhere (I keep telling myself to be patient, winter will be back soon).

This was in late March.

This, on the other hand, was early in May.

Followed by mid-May.

And we end with the most recent, in late May.

Obviously this isn't a twilight shot, but one for Grace from this weekend. The Australian PM was in town, and Canadian and Australian flags were mounted on posts near Parliament Hill, a common habit when world leaders pay a visit. Apparently his politics are quite in line with the control freak in our Prime Minister's office. That speaks volumes.

  2. Twilight is my favorite time of the day. l'heure bleue or the time between dog and wolf.
    Even that stupid books/movies can not ruin this time of day for me.
    Wonderful photos.

    cheers, parsnip

  3. I think you forgot werewolves... :-) It's a beautiful time of day that I usually enjoy very much whatever the season but for some odd reason I hate driving during twilight. Talking of which, I imagine that there will have been driving restrictions during the PM's visit...

  4. You made me smile. We both have reference to vampires (but of a different sort, as you know). Wonderful twilight scenes and fun to see the street scene shot too.

  10. Your first paragraph got me laughing out loud!

    Twilight is my favorite time of the day. Except for the darned mosquitoes.

  11. @Linda: thank you!

    @Parsnip: I saw the first film out of curiousity as to what it was all about. That was enough to turn my stomach with the awful acting and story.

    @Ciel: I have been calling that werewolf the Dog Boy for years.

    @Lauren: your example wasn't obnoxious!

    @stuart: thank you.

    @Tomas: it can...

    @VP: Thanks.

    @Bieb: I am not that fond of humidity.

    @revrunner: I doubt it is Waltzing Mathilda.

    @beth: thank you!

    @hilda: mosquitos are a bane!

  14. Twilight is a great time to make beautiful photos of the landscape and the coloured sky above it. This is a beautiful serie, William, the third shot is my favourite today.

  16. Beautiful selection of shots. Actual real-life evolving of time. No comment on idiot politicians and control freaks. Well, I gotta say something - Republicans in our House of Representatives decided Obama's decision to never leave a soldier behind has their shorts in a knot so they're going to investigate. Which means they don't have to do anything else - like help create jobs, regulate the damn bankers, help people keep their houses who've been screwed by the damn bankers, fix the deteriorating infrastructure, etc., etc.

    1. I'm not sure I understand, but if you're in America, you get nervous because of excessive control of everything?

    @EG: It is, yes.

    @Tanya: It seemed a good effect to go for!

    @Jan: thank you.

    @Luis: thanks!

    @Tex: those movies are like fingernails on a blackboard!

    @Lowell: politicians are like diapers. They should be changed often and for the same reason.

    @Mariusz: excessive control can be a nuisance. As to these windows, I wish they'd get a wash more often!

    @Sharon: yes, it is.

    1. William, I too am opposed to excessive control. Especially that excessive control is a deliberate action to enslave nations. I'm against it.

  29. Very funny, especially since I live in the general region of all the "Twilight" nuttiness. For a while there it was a bit much. Thankfully, it too is passing. I agree with Jose: #3 is my fave.

    @Kay: I'm glad it's done, but I hear now that Mr. Sparkles has signed on to play the next Batman. Congratulations to the DC universe for screwing up the Dark Knight.

    @Linda: I love the winter!

    @Petrea: thank you!

    @Grace: nor me for our former PM, may he rot in hell when the great day comes and he's no longer in this world.

    @Pat: I get more sunset shots in than I do sunrises.
