The home stretch: the path home from here led due north.
It's up here at the northwest portion of the lake that the vehicles used to clear the ice of snow are kept.
A first good view of the Dow's Lake Pavilion. There's a couple of restaurants in there, and during warmer weather a boat rental operation.
I came around the side of the pavilion.
Leaving the ice, I walked around the side of the pavilion for a look back at the lake.
And then a view of H.M.C.S Carleton.
A last view, of where the skateway begins or ends, depending on one's perspective. I left here to get some well deserved food over at the nearby Di Rienzo's. I had earned it with a walk like this.
In the heart of winter...
ReplyDeleteIt looks still very cold...
ReplyDeleteI can imagine that after this walk you felt like a snack and a sip.
ReplyDeleteYou skated all the way?
ReplyDeleteIt's very long ... how many km are there?

Things are warming up. Soon. All of our ice fishing huts are in for the season.

Have you told us how many miles down and back?
ReplyDeleteI bet the pavillion is a fun place in the summer -- well, pre or post pandemic!
ReplyDeleteWhat a long walk ... well done :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Nice to see the little pops of colour in this post William, they certainly stand out in the surrounding white of the snow. You absolutely did deserve that meal at the end of this walk ✨
ReplyDelete@Iris: cold is good.
ReplyDelete@Magiceye: it does.
@RedPat: hot chocolate is good on a winter day.
@Sharon: definitely.

ReplyDelete@Michelle: definitely.
@DJan: I did indeed.
@Marie: I can see that.
@Beside: hello there.
@Joanne: 7.8 kilometres. But that doesn't include the distance walking to the start of the skateway, and heading home from the end of my route.
@Jeanie: it's got a restaurant or two inside.
@Jan: it was a very long walk.
@Grace: thank you!
You really did deserve a hot drink and some food. Fantastic walk.
