Emerging from the bend as the Canal widens into Dow's Lake, I took this shot looking towards the east. Commissioners Park curls around the east and north sides of the lake. Tulips are resting in their beds beneath the snow in that park.
Another look back at the final stretch of the skateway, and I carried on.
This view looking north on the lake gives us Little Italy. Not so little anymore, with condos being put up and densifying the neighbourhood.
I prefer the Arboretum.
For me, the last stretch was ahead.
From the photos, it does look really cold out there.ReplyDelete
I hope the snows leaves so the Tulips can come out.ReplyDelete
Doesn't look like Italy, lol not even a little one ! Aren't you fed up of the snow ??ReplyDelete
A winter walk, indeed.ReplyDelete
Grey in grey, yet important to go outside, good on you!ReplyDelete
...ice is becoming more difficult to find here.ReplyDelete
I prefer the Arboretum too.ReplyDelete
@Nancy: it was.ReplyDelete
@Gattina: not at all.
@Italiafinlandia: that it was.
@Iris: thank you.
@Tom: the canal ice yesterday looked weak.
@Gemel: it's a nice place.
@Magiceye: an apt description.
The Arboretum is the most beautiful part of the banks, I think.ReplyDelete
I too hope the snow leaves soon so those pretty tulips can emerge.ReplyDelete
You are a few weeks from tulips by the look of it.ReplyDelete
Did you do all of this walking in one day?ReplyDelete
So far I think this has been a three ay walk!ReplyDelete
What an incredible sight William! White as far as the eye can see 💙ReplyDelete
You get the feeling of wide open spaces here.ReplyDelete
Spring is near than far.ReplyDelete
Ice and snow, it's still wintertime in Ottawa. Eventually it will melt, I hope. :)ReplyDelete
So long and flat. InterestingReplyDelete
@Jan: I agree.ReplyDelete
@DJan: it'll be a few weeks before we have tulips.
@Marie: probably a couple of months, I'd say.
@RedPat: all in one go. I was knackered by the end of it.
@Red: no, just a single day.
@Grace: lots of snow.
@Sharon: very open.
@Maywyn: ah, but we can still get snow.
@MB: thank you.
Wow ~ plenty of places to skate in Ottawa ~ lovely wintry photos again ~ brrr ~ReplyDelete
Living moment to moment,
A ShutterBug Explores,

Not many people about and it sure does look cold without the sun shining.ReplyDelete
No, it was quiet.Delete
Tulips! Resting! Tell them to get a move on. :-)ReplyDelete
They need their rest!Delete
A grey icy desert. A great place for skaters.ReplyDelete
That it is.Delete
Boy, I bet that's brisk when the wind blows through -- not a lot of protection there, is it?!ReplyDelete
I've been on that lake with a lot of cold wind.Delete
Until I met a frozen lake and walked it, I never knew just how fun it was!ReplyDelete
It certainly is.Delete
