On The Ice Surface

 I proceeded on, walking along the ice from the university towards where Dow's Lake opened up, photographing the Canal ice and the Arboretum as I went along.

A look back showed how far I'd come from the vicinity of the Hartwell Locks.

  4. I clicked on your photos to enlarge them, and enjoyed them very much. I especially like the bridge.

  5. Always good to go outside, no matter the weather, but frankly... I´m glad our snow is gone.
    I still have some pics to share, too, though - maybe in summer when it hopefully gets stinkin' hot!

  6. ...here the ice is getting thinner and thinner by the day.

  7. Two days ago I noticed Snowdrops in the backyard and the ice has gone from most of the waterways - and by mid March that is fine by me!

  8. @Linda: we still have a good amount, but are presently in a status quo where it's above freezing in the day.

    @Gattina: eventually we'll get there.

    @Sami: for the moment.

    @Italiafinlandia: thanks!

    @Eileen: thank you.

    @Lea: thanks!

    @Iris: I still have snow shots.

    @Tom: I have noticed weakness on the ice of the Ottawa River this week.

    @David: we're not there yet.

  11. Oh that definitely looks like a cold walk. I always feel very nervous to walk on ice, but all those skaters can't we wrong!

  12. Is it comfortable to walk so much on snow capped streets?

  14. I saw flowers blooming yesterday and don't miss the snow but the canal with skaters looks wonderful!

  15. I know that you love winter but I have to admit that I'm impressed by how long you can stay out in the cold.

  19. @Gemel: thank you.

    @Carol: thanks!

    @Shammickite: I never have a problem on Canal ice.

    @Magiceye: this is comfortable. I tend to be wary on sidewalks, actually, always looking for a thin glaze of ice. That seems more slippery.

    @Karl: it was a cold day.

    @RedPat: we've got another day of above average temperatures here. Tomorrow evening apparently the temperatures drop like a rock.

    @Red: this is quite an arboretum.

    @Sharon: I love it.

    @Maywyn: thanks!

    @Barbara: it had been a long, long walk.

    @Jan: I think so too.

    @Marie: that's true.

    @Beth: it was good exercise.
