A week after my previous visit, I was back at Dow's Lake to take some more fall shots, on a sunnier day.
Moving beyond Commissioners Park, I headed into that portion of the parkland on the west side of the lake that is part of the Arboretum, itself a part of the Experimental Farm. The path winds around a wetland. I took this shot here.
Here we have a look at the wetland, with the higher ground in the Arboretum beyond it. I assume, given its proximity, that the wetland is linked to the lake and the Canal as a whole, but I don't think the water levels get lowered here as they do in the Canal system over the winter.
This shot, on the other side of the path, shows the lake. Note the lower water levels. In the week between my previous visit and this one, the Canal had been lowered for the winter.
This area is well used by dog walkers. Note the one at right. I was headed for the high ground.
This shot is taken from one of the two overlooks up here.
One of the paths back down goes through the trees here. We'll continue this visit tomorrow.
Oh, it thins out, winter is on the way...
ReplyDeleteRain, ice, and snow are on the way. :-)
