Noel

A reminder to members of City Daily Photo: the theme for January 1st is your best of the year. I'll be doing two, one for Ottawa and one for Gatineau. And the first few themes for 2022 are up at the site under the theme day galleries section.

I start today with two more shots taken from my second visit to the Lansdowne outdoor Christmas Market.

The gang of Santas, or the Santa Mafia, were hamming it up.

Another visit, another night.

The strudels were good.

Two of the vendors here: at right, selling perogies, which I picked up during one of these visits. At left, a vendor I made some purchases from. Thor's Trinkets is the name for an artisan based out of Brockville, Ontario. I bought a beer mug from her at the comic convention a couple of years back- a Monty Python design. This year I bought three more beer mugs and three glasses.

The stage was busy each time I visited.

Some of the light displays were set up for photo ops.

More of the vendors.

I hate Christmas music, but the musicians weren't always playing Christmas music. When I took this shot, the band was playing a good take on Springsteen's Dancing In The Dark.

One last shot from here. Tomorrow for Christmas Eve I'm focusing on the Christmas farmer's market, which takes place inside the Aberdeen Pavilion.

    Oh, what a pic. Masks, OK, needed. But glued to the cell?! Sad. Be in the moment, girl!
    Great pics, looking forward to tomorrow!

  3. Santa Mafia, now that had me giggling uncontrollably.

    Looks an absolutely wonderful way to spend a frosty December evening. A tad jealous!

    @Eileen: I've still got a blueberry strudel in the fridge.

    @Marie: it was a gang.

    @David: several, in fact, including a place that was making good pancakes and another making Belgian waffles.

  15. @Jeanie: it's a relatively new idea for here, but based on an old tradition in Europe.

    @Tom: I think your city would be big enough to support something along these lines.

    @DJan: it seemed a fitting title for them.

    @Stefan: I don't partake, but that was available.

    @Magiceye: definitely.

    @RedPat: everyone was masked.

    @Sharon: they could do that as a heist.

    @Anvilcloud: I thought it fitting.

    @Red: I think the event was a success.

    @Catarina: there were a lot of them.

    @Jan: Bruce is a good act.

    @Eve: thank you.

  22. William - I wish we had a Christmas market like this near us. My husband and I love live music (coincidentally, he is a HUGE fan of Springsteen), and I would enjoy a wander around all the vendors. And who doesn't like strudel??? Merry Christmas!

  23. I've wondered what a Christmas market is like, good to see Santas congregating though.

  24. While I know you have expressed that you do not enjoy Christmas, William, it is nice that you are sharing these posts about local festivities and events. Also nice that you gifted yourself, as we should always not fail to do that.

  25. What fun I do miss such events. I wonder what lunar New Year will be in Chinatown Honolulu this year? Glad you're supporting local artisans..
