Returning for the next three days to close out my visit to the Canadian Museum of Nature. There are a series of enclosures on the back terrace of the building containing birds that have been brought up in captivity, and can't be released into the wild. Nonetheless, they look like they're treated well, and serve as educational ambassadors for their species. This is Max, a Great Horned Owl.
In the next enclosure is Khaleesi, a Eurasian Eagle-Owl.
Owls are fun to watch, especially when they turn their heads.
ReplyDeleteOh yes.
DeleteGreat birds, I have never been able to photograph one up close.
ReplyDeleteThis was my first opportunity.
DeleteMax is a real beaut!
ReplyDeleteIndeed.
DeleteA Great Horned Owl is a magnificent bird, even in captivity.
ReplyDeleteI agree.
DeleteThe owl looks nice.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely.
DeleteWhat an interesting addition!
ReplyDeleteIt is.
Delete...I have never seen an owl in the wild.
ReplyDeleteI have occasionally, but more often heard them.
DeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteThey are.
DeleteBeautiful owl, love the photos! Have a happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteI ´m still at a book about owls. An interesting subject. And two impressive ones!
ReplyDeleteThese ones are.
DeleteBeautiful photos, William, fascinating birds with those piercing eyes.
ReplyDeleteThey are.
DeleteWise old owl!
ReplyDeleteThat's the reputation.
DeleteWonderful. I have never seen one except for a Snowy Owl one really cold winter.
ReplyDeleteSnowy owls to come.
DeleteWhat a beauty. I've never seen an owl in the wild either.
ReplyDeleteThey capture the imagination.
DeleteThat owl is a handsome fellow.
ReplyDeleteThey are.
DeleteEs un ave, que despierta mis simpatías y que he podido ver muy cerca, en la recreación de los mercados medievales.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteI like owls, pretty amazing critters.
ReplyDeleteThey are.
DeleteSplendid animals. An entirely different sensation when spotted in the wild than an eagle. Both exciting but there is something mysterious and deep about the owl. Thank you, William
ReplyDeleteI agree.
DeleteGreat photos of the beautiful owl ~ thanks,
ReplyDeleteWishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

You're welcome.
DeleteI heard a pair of barred owls calling to each other yesterday during my walk.
ReplyDeleteThey are more often heard than seen.
DeleteGood looking birds, I think.
ReplyDeleteI agree.
DeleteI didn't know about this! Rather than releasing a sick or incapacitated owl, I think it important to help humans understand them!
ReplyDeleteThis is a good way.
DeleteMax the magnificent :)
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan
Thanks!
DeleteA regal chap indeed.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely.
DeleteI'm fascinated by owls. They are magnificent birds.
ReplyDeleteThey are.
