Our Spirits, Carrying With Them Dreams Of Flowers

Here we arrive at Kingswood, which was the first residence Mackenzie King established here, expanding over time. There are two cottages and this carriage house. Kingswood as a name is a combination of his childhood home in Kitchener Ontario, Woodside, and the lake this estate is on- Kingsmere Lake. The name of the lake, which would have preceded him, must have appealed to him from the first time he came up here.

A carriage stands out front. Back in the early days, this would have been transport from the nearest train station, in Chelsea.

A glimpse at the main cottage here in the distance.

And this view towards the guest cottage.

Panels speak to Mackenzie King's sentimental streak- he found beauty being out in nature. I can completely relate.

A look in full at the guest cottage from this side.

As it turns out, part of it is open to public tours inside, which I hadn't expected- I'd thought the buildings would be closed up for the winter.

And as is the case throughout the estate, the place feels very comfortable, very much like a home.

    1. Not so long, and at a certain point cars would have been brought in.

    1. Looks can be deceiving. There were people around, I just try to photograph in a way that minimizes their presence.
