One Can Never Have Too Much Snow

On Wednesday morning I woke up, took a look out the living room window at my place, and this is what greeted me.

Yes, snow. Lovely, lovely, white fluffy snow. We've had snow flakes and small snowfalls earlier in the season, but this is the first relatively significant one of the season. My good friend and esteemed partner in crime Norma seems to think I'm crazy for liking winter.

Over at Carleton University, this pathway may be plowed, but you can see the amount of snow burying the brush at the side of the path.

There's a station on campus for a commuter train. This is what it looked like early in the morning.

While up in the Glebe, the snow was clinging to the trees, giving us a world of white.

Now, if we're really lucky, we'll have this gorgeous snow around until the end of May.

Tomorrow is City Daily Photo Theme Day. I've already got my post in drafts. For those photobloggers who haven't taken their shots yet... for the love of Odin! Get out there, you fools!

  1. I love the snow too. We don't get much here, so when it does snow everyone is quite excited. Like living in the South of the US (which I did for most of my life), the local authorities just aren't prepared to handle it. No plows, little salt, etc. Basically, everything shuts down. As a source of photo ops, I can't get enough of it. You caught some very nice scenes around town. Enjoy it !

    1. My mother once went to the Netherlands in the winter. There was a storm that shut down the entire country... where the only plow was at an airport. For her, it was just another winter storm.

  2. Ah, it's pretty! We had snow for a few days last week, but it's melted away now. I'm looking forward to more of the white stuff.

    1. We tend to get quite a bit over the course of a winter.

  5. I would tend to agree with you! I'm a little disappointed that we get missed on a lot of the snow - it tends to arc around us. I used to live in the 'snow belt' by Georgian Bay, though and remember...

    1. I know the Niagara Peninsula gets a lot of it, but I didn't know it arcs around Hamilton.

  7. Yes, one can "have too much snow." We don't get enough for people to have adapted so that they ski, skate, or use snowmobiles to get around. We slip, snot, and skid through a mess that only pretty for about 5 minutes before it turns to gray slush.

  11. Beautiful !
The first three photos are perfect fro your Christmas card !
I love the snow but I don't like the ice storms that were more common when I worked in Kansas City... awful !
Tucson for me has the best winters snow on the mountains around Tucson and clear streets in the valley.
Now please keep the below freezing temps up where you are and not one bad storm that comes down and destroys my citrus trees. Two days of bad weather years of clean up.

    cheers, parsnip

  14. I'm with Norma on this one. I do not ever wish to drive in snow or ice again. Much too nerve wracking. The are lovely photos though.

  15. Fresh snowfall is the thing I miss most about living in Minnesota (not so much when it's dirty and three months into winter). Beautiful shots.

  16. Interesting set of photographs. The use of colour spots here and there are brilliant.

  17. As natives of NJ currently living in the south, we do miss snowfalls. While we have had them in the 10 years we have lived here, most are short-lived. I do miss walking after a fresh snowfall before it gets all grey and mushy. Thanks got this bit of remembrance.
