This is the beauty snake, coiled up in the underbrush of its enclosure. They range from western India through southeast Asia.
The mountain gorilla is a resident of rainforests in Africa.
Cuvier's Dwarf Caiman is a South American crocodilian, the smallest of their kind.
Kind of cute, actually.
I returned to say hello to the green iguana, who had enough of lunch and was up on a branch. A formidable animal.
Coming out, I looked up at the series of thick glass panels in the ceiling over the central atrium.
And then down at Gaia. Two works by the same artist, Luke Jerram, occupy the central atrium and the Queens Lantern- scale models of the Earth and the Moon. Gaia rotates slowly.
To Earth with her mostly wonderful inhabitants...

DeleteYour post reminded me of a childhood friend of mine who had a pet iguana that ran loose in his parents' house. At any given moment you just had no idea where it would show up next, which was kind of creepy. :-)
