Birds of the Arctic can be seen here.
An adult and calf musk ox pair are here. These hardy herd animals are emblematic of the north.
This is a model reproduction of the Arctic Char.
While here we have the King Eider.
This display includes the Barren-ground Caribou, a seal, and suspended overhead, life sized models of the narwhal and beluga whale.
These two are the Common Eider.
I finish for today with this panel.
What magnificent beasts those Musk Oxen are.

ReplyDeleteYou're welcome.
DeleteOne of the great gaps in my naturalist’s life is that I have never seen a caribou. The exhibits are well done but it’s too bad they couldn’t have created a diorama showing the landscape and vegetation to put it all in context.
ReplyDeleteThe mammal gallery relies heavily on dioramas.
DeleteI always enjoyed seeing the herds of caribou in central Newfoundland when we lived there. Not on the roads however!
ReplyDeleteThey must be quite a sight.
DeleteExcellent displays, William.
ReplyDeleteI think so too.

DeleteImpressive. That said, I've visited too many collections of stuffed animals to be entirely comfortable with them - though I accept the obvious educational value.
