The second sculpture up on this hilltop on Parliament Hill is Lester Pearson, one of our greatest prime ministers, who did much for the country and the world. His statue is approachable, with him sitting, and the plinth is not high.
Nearby, an overlook of the Ottawa River. Stony islands can be seen in the water, islands that in spring are often submerged. For whatever reason, bushes on those islands somehow survive.
Another view downstream towards the Museum of History and the Alexandra Bridge.
I turned back, taking this shot of West Block.
And one more look at Queen Victoria.
I headed back to the open platform.
A close up of the far wall of the pit with a zoom shot. Imagine this as a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle.
Some of the tools of stonemasons. I hope you've enjoyed this. Tomorrow we shift into another series.
An excellent series of photos, thanks William.

DeleteBeautiful place ! Queen Victoria follows me everywhere, just as the Romans, except they didn't come to Canada ! Your new header is nice !
ReplyDeleteStrictly speaking, neither did she!
DeleteGreat works, by humans and Mother Nature.
ReplyDeleteI think so.
DeleteI used to watch the stonemasons at work restoring some of the damaged sculptures on the Washington Cathedral after an earthquake damaged them.
ReplyDeleteNot surprising.
DeleteAre there open areas between the trees, so that workers can take their sandwiches out at lunch time and enjoy the river views on benches?
ReplyDeleteI suppose so.
DeleteJigsaw. 🤡
ReplyDeleteOh yes.
DeleteSiempre las esculturas se dedican a las personas ilustres, que han destacado por algo.
ReplyDeleteThanks.

ReplyDeleteYou're welcome.
DeleteThat is a nice statue of your prime minister whose name and some accomplishments even this woefully ignorant reader recognizes. The river pictures are lovely -- that's interesting about the trees surviving all.
ReplyDeleteAnd yet they do.
DeleteYou don't usually see them sitting. Interesting concept! He must have been an approachable man.
ReplyDeleteI think if I'd known him, I'd have liked him a lot.
DeleteLester Pearson was indeed one of our greatest statesman.
ReplyDeleteHe left a big legacy.
