I begin today within the atrium at the Museum of Nature, looking out into the Queens Lantern at the Moon.
More of Gaia. As it slowly rotates, you can take your time looking at things- such as how big the Sahara really is.
Much of eastern North America is under cloud on this depiction.
But you can get a good look at the heart of the continent.
The Earth Gallery is the next space in the museum, and the first thing the visitor sees are examples of the three main types of rock- sedimentary, metamorphic, and magmatic rocks
A video screen shows various rock formations- or rock forming, as you will.
Must be soothing to watch the world go slowly round...

DeleteThat first shot draws one in…love it!
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteI would love to visit that museum. I think the reason the north eastern part of North America is shrowded in cloud is because that's the center of population, and this museum maybe wants to leave people out of it's Gaia.
ReplyDeleteThat's one reason.
DeleteWatching the earth rotate is magnificent!
ReplyDeleteIt is.
DeleteWhat a great museum.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely.
DeleteHow curious. Igneous rocks are magmatic, but I have never before seen them referred to as such.
ReplyDeleteTwo interchangeable words for the same type, but I think the Museum prefers using magmatic for its purposes.
DeleteVery impressive museum.
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is.
DeleteAwesome photos of Earth Gallery ~
