Taking In Two Views Of The Bytown Museum

These two were engaged in colouring a mural that had been hung up on the wall below the Museum as part of the day's festivities. The Museum is the oldest stone building in the city, having had been John By's headquarters during the construction of the Canal. Today it serves as a local history museum, but since Ottawa is the capital of the country, the local history blends together with the national history.

Stepping further back, we get a wider view of the Chateau, the Canal, and the Museum.

  2. It's even more beautiful up close! For the oldest stone building, it certainly is a beauty.

  3. that activity of colouring in the mural is cool!!

the stone building reminds of when I was a child and my parents took my sister and I on holiday right to the top of the North Island of New Zealand where there was NZs oldest stone building thanks for reminding me :)

  11. It's all so nice, William. Love the mural idea and the old Bay house looks in great shape. In Gainesville, Florida, about 35 miles north of us, home to the Univ. of Florida, there's a wall that runs for about 6 blocks upon which people are invited to do their graffiti. It's pretty wild, but I think does keep the graffiti-prone in check.
