Image

The next work is really out there, a self portrait of sorts by Max Dean, consisting of a wealth of objects in a multi media installation. Some are tied to him professionally, others personally.

And this is it, titled Portrait Of the Viewer As Artist.

Another artist has a portrait nearby that is both more conventional than the above, but also unconventional. Kosisochukwu Nnebe created Black Woman #6 (Hyper/In/Visibility) as a commentary, of being both visible and invisible as a minority.

The self portrait is visible only when looked at from either side.

Viewed head on, the image disappears, and the onlooker only sees themselves in a mirror.

  6. I can understand and appreciate the second portrait. The first might have more meaning if I could experience it in person...it's a bit vague through photos.

  7. The 2nd one is really well done. Not sure about the 1st one.

  8. All very interesting. One could spend a lot of time looking at these and then some would pass by with some very negative comments.

  9. Today everything can be "modern art" with the right sponsor or the right name ! Even a toilet in the desert or as the white canvas hanging in the museum of modern art in Brussels with the mention "landscape in snow"
