Looking now to Winterlude 2017, our Canada 150 anniversary year. In the days leading up to the festival, a team of sculptors were at City Hall, preparing a work sponsored by the European Union.
Down in the Glebe at Lansdowne, a carver was working on a snow sculpture.
Here we have the view looking west over the Rideau Canal from the Bank Street Bridge.
The Lord Elgin Hotel had its sculptures out front.
Including their ice bench.
Here we have the finished sculpture from the first shot, a nod to the Canadian anniversary year by the EU.
And across the street in Confederation Park, the small sculptures ringing the fountain.
William - I wonder if the smaller sculptures are even more difficult? Love them all! Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteI think I prefer the smaller ones around the fountain. You have shown us so many magnificent sculptures it's difficult to choose a favourite.

ReplyDeleteThis is true art. Thank you for sharing - you nearly (...) make me liking winter.

DeleteThrilling heraldic creatures! In case it's not apparent, I have been going backward through these posts. You have really documented this event in a thorough way and possibly should share this series of posts with the archives!
ReplyDeleteA pleasure getting the comments. I tend to informally archive.
