More from 2016 today with ice sculptures in Confederation Park.
Moving on, this view from the Corktown Bridge looks out over the Rideau Canal with skaters below.
From the surface, a look at the bridge.
I followed the ice north. The Laurier Avenue Bridge was ahead.
Medics skate the ice during the season on the off chance that someone's gotten hurt. Light green jackets make them highly visible.
I have run out of superlatives for these amazing sculptures.
ReplyDeleteSuch artistry.
ReplyDeleteAll that work and then they melt away. I don't think I could bear it if I had created one of those masterpieces. But then, that will never be a problem I will have to deal with as ice cubes are the limit of my talent.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and reassuring there would be medical help for in case...
ReplyDeleteSão espetaculares estes trabalhos em gelo.
ReplyDeleteUm abraço e tenha um bom mês de Março.

I had not realized that medics were on duty.
ReplyDeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteLove the Eagle and Heron sculptures. It is nice knowing the medics are there, in case they are needed.
Take care, have a great day!
I especially like that heron, as if he's standing with his legs in the water.
ReplyDelete...the heron and eagle are my favorites!
ReplyDeleteThis is such an enormous event. I'm with those on the heron, but then I'm biased!
ReplyDeleteLovely photos
ReplyDelete@Linda: thank you.
ReplyDelete@Italiafinlandia: indeed.
@Fun60: I'd never be able to do this.
@Iris: just in case.
@Francisco: thanks.
@David: it makes sense.
@Eileen: thank you.
@Jan: it captures the essence of a heron well.
@Tom: they're both good.
@Jeanie: I'm fond of herons.
@Maywyn: thanks.
Those wings on the ice sculptures must be difficult to do. Incredible.
ReplyDeleteThe feathers on that eagle are so delicate.
ReplyDeleteSuch a dynamic and creative time ~
ReplyDeleteWishing you lots of love and peace in your days,

It's reassuring that there are medical workers out their to help the people who need it.
ReplyDeleteI like the way the heron's legs go through the big block of ice to stabilize the bird.
ReplyDeleteI really like these sculptures with all the fine detail. I like the eagle.
ReplyDeleteAgain I regret that these beautiful sculpters will disappear when it becomes warm ! It seems that you are still in deep winter, while we really have a dirty weather and rather warm for a winter ! Today we had 11°C !! (it happens that we have the same temperature in summer !!)
ReplyDelete@Marie: they are.
ReplyDelete@Sharon: very much so.
@Carol: thank you.
@Bill: a good idea.
@RedPat: it's a good touch.
@Red: me too.
@Gattina: some walking can be sloppy at times. My jeans become a mess at the bottoms.
Those hi-vis jackets make it a color photo.
ReplyDeleteIndeed.
DeleteBeautiful collection of pictures!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteFor me it would seem strange walking on the ice under a bridge, well mostly cos that level of cold doesn't happen
ReplyDeleteIt happens here. I have no issue walking on canal ice but would never walk on river ice.
DeleteLost for words with those ice sculptures. Magnificent!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteThe sculptures look even more spectacular in a natural setting. It was very, very, cold last week but we are having record breaking heat this week. Such strange weather!
ReplyDeleteIt's cold today, but that may not last.
