Ice Sculptures And Canal Bridges

 More from 2016 today with ice sculptures in Confederation Park.

Moving on, this view from the Corktown Bridge looks out over the Rideau Canal with skaters below.

From the surface, a look at the bridge.

I followed the ice north. The Laurier Avenue Bridge was ahead.

Medics skate the ice during the season on the off chance that someone's gotten hurt. Light green jackets make them highly visible.

  1. I have run out of superlatives for these amazing sculptures.

  2. All that work and then they melt away. I don't think I could bear it if I had created one of those masterpieces. But then, that will never be a problem I will have to deal with as ice cubes are the limit of my talent.

  5. Hello,
    Love the Eagle and Heron sculptures. It is nice knowing the medics are there, in case they are needed.
    Take care, have a great day!

  16. Again I regret that these beautiful sculpters will disappear when it becomes warm ! It seems that you are still in deep winter, while we really have a dirty weather and rather warm for a winter ! Today we had 11°C !! (it happens that we have the same temperature in summer !!)

    @Red: me too.

    @Gattina: some walking can be sloppy at times. My jeans become a mess at the bottoms.

  20. For me it would seem strange walking on the ice under a bridge, well mostly cos that level of cold doesn't happen

    1. It happens here. I have no issue walking on canal ice but would never walk on river ice.

  22. The sculptures look even more spectacular in a natural setting. It was very, very, cold last week but we are having record breaking heat this week. Such strange weather!
