Fathers

Continuing this look back at Winterlude 2017, here are more of the ice sculptures.

In the Byward Market that year, a large snow sculpture had been created with some of the Fathers of Confederation. At left is Louis Riel in profile; the Metis leader was hung for treason for his part in leading the western rebellions, but is considered the founder of Manitoba today. Our first prime minister, John A. Macdonald is to his right, followed by Thomas D'Arcy McGee, George Brown, and George-Etienne Cartier.

  15. That's purely amazing! What talent. And there is something so wonderfully Zen (or metaphorical) about the artists who do such beautiful work to honor and enjoy "for the moment" instead of wanting their work to remain through the ages.
