Marking The Centennial

I headed back onto Sparks Street from the War Memorial, where I found that new ice sculptures had just been finished for the last weekend of Winterlude. This one also marks the centennial of the RCAF, and was an imaginative one, with multiple standalone pieces that had to be looked at from just the right angle to see them as one.

This is close enough, but not quite. When we see this one again in the night, I got it just right. One has to stand in just the right spot, and at just the right height- like that of a kid, to see the RCAF centennial logo all line up together. I liked the concept tremendously.

This is the other portion of the ice sculpture, standing off to the east. It combines a contemporary fighter jet and helicopter with a biplane, which would have been used in the early years of the RCAF.

  8. hey there friend. miss your visits, hope to see you again soon, it has been a long time ago, back in December last year, 2023. i will have to play catch up with you, maybe i missed something?? sorry if that is the case. and whatnot. i must admit i don't have the time to visit folks like i once did, only when they see me do i recall or make a point to pay back the kindness. sorry for that ... i know in the past comments were more at my place. it is sad the downfall of blogging. i guess folks don't do it like they once did. miss the friends. stay warm and cozy. this weather i tell ya what a dramatic time. yesterday it was snowing ...nothing sticking but flurries flying around and it was fun to see. so windy and cold. i keep wanting to do stuff outside but it is no fun when it is so chilly. hope you are well. can you believe it is March? time this year is flying by. take care this week.
