The first day of each month is a theme day for members of City Daily Photo. This month the theme is Reflections In Windows. Check out how others are handling this theme right here.
I start with these shots taken a couple of weeks back at night. An office building downtown has reflective windows, and I composed a shot with one pane that's at an angle. St. Patrick Basilica is reflected in the glass. The roadway at left gives it away as a reflection.
Taken vertically, but a similar view. The truck's lettering is another giveaway of a reflection.
This is taken from the other side, but still the still pane of glass, showing the reflection down the street. The two story brick building in the background has as its corner unit the embassy for El Salvador.
This is in Little Italy. This building once housed a flea market and antique market, but was converted years ago. On this side, it's offices, and on the other side, condo lofts, though some of the residences are seen on top on this side.
Where this street meets Preston Street lies Preston Square, a large office complex. Retail is on the ground floor here, and it has plenty of windows that particularly show reflections on a sunny day.
My final spot for this post is a familiar one, the Canadian War Museum, which tells the story of Canadian military history at home and abroad. Large windows enclose the Lebreton Gallery, where military vehicles and equipment from a multitude of eras and countries are displayed.
A look inside.
And then on the east side, where the Supreme Court and Parliament Hill can be seen in the reflections.
I took this shot for the reflection, but also for the Voodoo fighter jet inside. At left, reflected on the window, is the National Holocaust Monument.
One last shot, looking up. This spire looms over the Museum, and within is Regeneration Hall. A long window descends from the top, and looks out from the building directly towards Parliament Hill.
Inspiring theme.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful March, William!
Thank you!
DeleteYou would never guess those top ones are reflections. Thanks for the clues.
ReplyDeleteYes, particularly at night.
DeleteGreat post and reflection photos! Take care, have a great day and happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteThe windows in the office building that reflect St. Patrick Basilica are so clean!
ReplyDeleteA month or so back that pane was replaced, as its predecessor had been hit and cracked.
Delete...lots of work for window washers.
ReplyDeleteOf course.
DeleteTime to walk around and find memories of Brian Mulroney, at times the most despised Prime Minister in Canada’s history and a sycophant of the worst kind, seemingly rehabilitated (by some) in retirement.
ReplyDeleteOn a day like today, I choose to remember his stance on apartheid, surely something worthy of respect.
DeleteLovely takes on the theme.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteLots of cool reflections. I like the ones on the glass of the war museum.
ReplyDeleteMe too. I was glad to have thought of it.
DeleteI like the angle of the last shot.
ReplyDeleteMe too.
DeleteYou found some great window reflections in a variety of places.
ReplyDeleteI had options.
DeleteI specially like the reflections in the windows of the War Museum.
ReplyDeleteSame here.
DeleteYou've had fun with these shots.
ReplyDeleteI did!
DeleteWell done with reflections, particularly the third.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteGreat shots for theme day.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
DeleteThere are ALOT of reflections in those photos. The streets look very quiet, was it too cold for people to be out?
ReplyDeleteIt was cold, but also a weekday. Most people indoors.
Deletelove the guess work with the first one (I wouldn't have guessed it was a reflection - apart from the left corner's stacking of 2 cars), good angle you took here.
ReplyDeleteI liked to figure out this theme.
DeleteNice take on the theme, as windows are one of my favorite and most important parts of most any architecture, and designs, especially windows in the evening. So magical, for the glow of light, although you can't capture as much as our daylight photos!
ReplyDeleteTrue!
DeleteWonderful window reflection photos ~ thanks,
ReplyDeleteWishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,
