Jacques Cartier Park

I departed from where I left off yesterday, bound for Jacques Cartier Park to photograph my primary subject for this month's theme day. Beyond that in the park are flowerbeds, which were at their peak. These beds will likely be dug up by now, as October is the time to plant tulip bulbs for next May.

Walking on, I noticed some Canada geese. They walked away as I approached. Typical.

The park lies on the shore of the Ottawa River. The Macdonald-Cartier Bridge spans the river towards Ottawa in the background.

A hint of fall colours can be seen here.

There are a series of historical plaques on some of the rocks here, telling the story of the river, including First Nations peoples, the voyageurs, and the lumbermen.

I close out with this view of the Alexandra Bridge, and the landmarks of the National Gallery and the Hill beyond it.

  9. I hope you said a hearty "Good morning" to those CANADA Geese in any event. Take a handful of corn with you and they'll be happy to gather a little closer!

  10. En las primeras fotos, los campos se ven completamente cubiertos de flores, deben de estar preciosos también cubiertos de tulipanes. Espero que nos lo muestres también.

    Que tengas una feliz semana.

  22. I'm finally planting tulips again this year. So many of my bulbs have been dug up by squirrels, so we hardly get any flowers anymore. I'm having professionals come in to do a big planting, and they'll add deterrents for those pests. Hopefully, I'll see tulips next spring!
