Carrying on, here we have the greatest of all the pharaohs, Ramses II, sitting between the god Amun and his wife Mut.
This statue is thought to be Thutmose I.
This bust is of Isenofret, another of Ramses' wives.
Nefertari was the favourite wife of Ramses.
This model of her temple is here.
Artifacts linked to Ramses or his mother Tuya. They include scarab jewelry and small statues and votives.
Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteFabulous tour William, Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI could really have fun if my wife was called Mut. I'd have to add the extra "t" though!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful exhibit, Ramses II seated with the sun god and his wife is cool.
ReplyDeleteTake care, have a great day!
That was quite a temple to Nefertari.
ReplyDelete@Italiafinlandia: you're welcome.
ReplyDelete@Gemel: thank you.
@David: hah!
@Eileen: thanks.
@Marie: it was.
Enjoying this exhibition very much William ✨
ReplyDeleteThey have some wonderful pieces in the exhibit, William.
ReplyDelete...I often wonder if these artifacts should be in Egypt and not around the world.
ReplyDeleteIt has been quite a display so far, but imagine calling your wife a mutt. ;)
ReplyDeleteSeeing these things makes my imagination run wild.
ReplyDeleteInteresting how these Egyptians' eternal possessions wound up scattered all around the world. :-)
ReplyDeleteQuite the history ~

@Grace: I am enjoying showing it.
ReplyDelete@RedPat: it was well laid out.
@Tom: many are, but most of the artifacts here come from an Italian museum.
@Anvilcloud: dead man walking.
@Sharon: mine too.
@Revrunner: all over.
@Carol: thank you.
I know so little Egyptian history. I think I'd learn a lot here.
ReplyDeleteI did.
DeleteI am still always impressed by the old Egyptians.
ReplyDeleteMe too.
DeleteIt's such an interesting culture!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely.
DeleteThe carvings are amazing to think how much work they were to make...with no power tools.
ReplyDeleteIndeed.
DeleteFabulous post.
ReplyDeleteThe only really nice thing my x did for me was to get tickets when the Tutankhamun exhibit came to LA. Egyptian history is one of my favorites. I talked about it alot so I said I wanted to go and surprise he got the tickets.Other than The year of Sargent in Boston my best time ever.
Thank you.
DeleteCan you believe I´ve been there for real, and had no fear. I would not visit these days.
ReplyDeleteA taxi-driver took us to his home and all. They were open, women wore skirts, hair flowing open in the wind. So sad what happened. (That was 1991 or such).
Hopefully I can see Egypt for myself someday.
DeleteThe statues are such a bright blue:)
ReplyDeleteBlue faience is a new one to me.
DeleteSeems redundant to call them iconic!
ReplyDeleteIt does.
